Two impaired driving investigations and one 80-plus charge reported in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent police reported multiple impaired driving investigations on June 7, including one driver who received a seven-day licence suspension and another who was charged with impaired driving after a collision.

Police said an officer stopped a vehicle on Orangewood Boulevard at about 3:57 a.m. for erratic driving. After the driver failed a roadside breath test, he was taken to police headquarters for further testing. He was released unconditionally, but his licence was suspended for seven days because his blood alcohol concentration exceeded 50 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.

Later that day, officers responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a light pole on Fifth Street in Chatham. No injuries were reported. Police said the driver failed a roadside breath test and subsequent testing at headquarters showed a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.

A 32-year-old Chatham man is charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus. He was released with a court date of July 13, 2026.
