Heat warning
Environment Canada has issued a yellow heat warning for Chatham-Kent, with a heat event expected from today through Thursday. Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach around 31 C, with overnight lows near 21 C and humidex values between 36 and 40. There is also a possibility the hot conditions could continue into Friday and Saturday, although confidence in that part of the forecast remains low. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day, seek air-conditioned or cooler spaces when possible, and check on older adults and other vulnerable individuals. Officials warn that heat-related illnesses can develop quickly, with heat stroke considered a medical emergency requiring immediate attention. Areas near Lake Huron and Lake Erie are expected to experience somewhat cooler conditions.
