Two charged with drug and firearms offences after Lambton County traffic stop

OPP officials allege: Two people are facing numerous drug and firearms charges following a traffic stop in Brooke-Alvinston Township early Tuesday morning.

Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police said officers stopped a vehicle on Walnut Street near Lorne Street shortly after 2:30 a.m. on July 7.

As a result of the investigation, two individuals were charged with multiple offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Criminal Code, including several counts of possession of Schedule I substances for the purpose of trafficking involving methamphetamine, cocaine, buprenorphine, oxycodone, hydromorphone and Percocet tablets.

Police also laid charges related to possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, possession of a firearm obtained by crime and occupying a motor vehicle while knowing there was a firearm inside.

One of the accused also faces additional charges, including five counts of possessing a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order and unauthorized possession of a weapon.

Both individuals were held in custody pending bail hearings.
