It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Cathie in Waterloo on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the age of 74.
Cathie is reunited with her beloved husband, Douglas Robert Fournie (d. 2002), and her parents, Roy and Agnes “Nan” Goodman.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Kyle Fournie and Heather Benham (Geordie). Dearly remembered by sister Nancy Moore (late Howard) and nieces and nephews Brian, Ashley (Chris), and Josh (Tiffany). She will be held forever in the hearts of her cherished grandsons, Jack, George, and Patrick.
For many years, Cathie served with care and dedication as an Educational Assistant with the Waterloo Region District School Board. Her workplace was so much more than a job to her; her co-workers became her second family. Cathie leaves behind a wide circle of friends, former colleagues, and loved ones whose lives were deeply enriched by her kindness and humour.
Cathie found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved nothing more than to sit peacefully in her garden, enjoying a warm cup of tea.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 4 – 7 PM on Tuesday, August 18. The funeral will be celebrated at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 19 at 12 o’clock noon. Reception to follow at the Cavanagh Reception Centre, 416 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg. Interment with her parents in Riverview Cemetery will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honour Cathie’s big-hearted spirit by performing an act of kindness in her memory.
