OPP officials allege: A traffic stop has resulted in an individual being charged following a stop in St. Clair Township.
Members of the Lambton County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted the stop on Smith Line near Highway 40 shortly before 2:30 a.m. on September 6, 2026.
A 19-year-old from the Municipality of Chatham-Kent was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus and young driver with a blood alcohol concentration above zero.
A 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were initiated as per statute.
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on October 12, 2026.
OPP are urging members of the public to report impaired driving by calling 911 in emergency situations. Complaints of impaired, aggressive or careless driving can also be made by calling 1-888-310-1122.
