The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is making documents publicly available related to York1’s proposed waste transfer and processing facility at 29831 Irish School Rd. in Dresden.
The documents have been provided to the municipality by York1 and are being reviewed by the municipality’s external experts. Due to significant public interest from the community, and the need for the public to have as much information as possible about the proposal, the municipality said it felt it was important that the records be shared with the community.
York1 agreed to the municipality posting the documents to the Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent Defend Dresden webpage, but asked that a disclaimer be included, noting that the engagement method for the Environmental Compliance Approval process is overseen by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks through its Environmental Registry of Ontario process, and that the approval process is dynamic, with additional information and documents potentially added over time.
The ECA documents provided by York1 were recently submitted to the ministry as part of the approval process. In addition to materials submitted by York1 to the ministry, the documents may also include records filed by York1 and the municipality in connection with York1’s application before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice regarding Planning Act requirements applicable to the property.
The municipality is also posting court materials filed by York1 and the municipality in that application. The records are in addition to information already available on the municipality’s Defend Dresden Let’s Talk page and will be posted at the top for ease of access.
