Chatham-Kent Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police are advising the public of intermittent 911 service disruptions affecting areas across the province.
The OPP said it has received reports of intermittent 911 outages across Ontario and is urging members of the public who require emergency police response to call the OPP non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122, which remains fully operational. OPP members continue to respond to calls for service despite the temporary outage.
Chatham-Kent Police Service said it is also aware of the disruptions and is advising residents who are unable to connect to 911 and require emergency assistance to contact the appropriate service directly. For police services, residents can call CKPS dispatch at 519-352-1234, ext. 9. For EMS, residents can call 519-627-9871, and for Chatham-Kent Fire, residents can call 519-352-1100. For OPP dispatch, residents can call 1-888-310-1122.
The CKPS non-emergency line remains operational at 519-352-1234 and is available for all services.
Both police services are asking the public not to call 911 to test the line, and not to call for information or updates if they are not experiencing an emergency.
The OPP said it is working with service providers to expedite the restoration of 911 service. Both services said updates will be provided as they become available, and are asking residents to share this information with family, friends and neighbours.
