Huron Shores Area Transit’s Monthly Pass increase took effect on September 1, 2026, raising the cost from $140 to $160 as part of the transit system’s effort to remain financially sustainable while continuing to offer affordable transportation across the region.
Since its launch, HSAT had grown its service, added new routes and seasonal options, improved bus stop infrastructure, and increased service frequency to better support residents, workers, students, and visitors. As operating costs continued to rise, fare adjustments were required to help maintain long-term stability for the rural transit system.
Even with the increase, the Monthly Pass continues to offer strong value for riders who travel regularly. Passengers making two long-distance return trips each week would have paid $192 in regular fares over a four-week month, while the $160 Monthly Pass provided a savings of $32. Frequent local riders also continue to benefit from meaningful savings compared with paying individual fares. HSAT’s Monthly Pass remained among the most affordable options offered by comparable rural transit systems in Ontario.
HSAT continued to operate more service than many similar rural systems, running seven days a week, including weekends and statutory holidays, and offering extended service hours while connecting communities throughout Lambton Shores, Kettle and Stony Point First Nation, South Huron, Bluewater, Plympton-Wyoming, Sarnia, London, and Goderich.
