Chatham-Kent library launches radon detector lending collection

Chatham-Kent Public Library is helping residents create healthier homes with the launch of a new radon detector collection.

Beginning Tuesday, adult library cardholders can borrow a radon detector free of charge to test radon levels in their homes. Detectors can be borrowed for 35 days and should remain in the home for at least 30 consecutive days to ensure an accurate reading.

The kits will be available to borrow from Oct. 1 through March 31, the recommended testing season, when homes are typically more sealed against outdoor air, allowing for more reliable results.

The library says the program aims to make home radon testing more accessible and affordable. More information is available at ckpl.ca.
