A $50 million condo project in downtown Chatham is reportedly being ditched.

Blackburn News reported this morning that Victor Boutin, the owner of the Everlast Group, confirmed that the Boardwalk on the Thames condominium project is not moving forward.

Boutin said a battle with the union representing construction workers was to blame for the project being stopped. In the interview, Boutin reportedly called the union parasites, adding he would restart the project if the union was not involved.

The Chatham Voice reported on Wednesday that talk of the project being halted has been swirling around the business community in Chatham, after workers failed to return to the job site since the Christmas break.

The incomplete project, which currently consists of about two-stories of concrete, has been under construction since April of 2013.

It is located at the corner of King and Fifth streets in downtown Chatham.

More to come.
