Preliminary hearing dates have been set for a Walpole Island man, who is facing attempted murder charges.
20-year-old Taylor Ermatinger of Walpole Island will appear in a Chatham courtroom for a preliminary hearing on August 24 and 25.
Ermatinger is charged with attempted murder stemming from an incident at Sam’s Hotel in Wallaceburg back in May.
The incident sent a 19-year-old man to London hospital with critical injuries.
Ermatinger’s lawyer Gudrun Mueller-Wilm appeared in court today (Feb. 24) on his behalf.
Ermatinger also had a focus hearing set today for June 1.
A publication ban remains in place for evidence heard during Ermatinger’s bail hearing, which was held last year.
Ermatinger had originally been denied bail back in June, however a Superior Court Justice overturned the decision after a bail review was requested.
Ermatinger was granted a release on a recognizance on July 21, which included a long list of conditions.
Another person charged in the case, 18-year-old Jessy Elder of Wallaceburg pleaded guilty on Aug. 7 to obstructing police and was given a 30 day sentence.
Elder was also handed a five-year weapons prohibition, 18-months of probation and was ordered to pay a victim fine surcharge of $200.
He served 80 days in pre-sentence custody and was given credit for serving 120 days in jail.
Charges against Elder for being an accessory to an attempted murder, were withdrawn.
