One person is dead following a house fire just outside of Wallaceburg.
Crews from Wallaceburg, Tupperville and Dresden responded to the blaze at 9:39 p.m. at 29796 Pond Road.
“The cause and fatality presently under investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshall and the Chatham-Kent Police,” stated Alan DeVillaer, assistant chief.
“Firefighters arrived at the scene of a working fire at a single family home. The lone occupant of the residence died as a result of the fire. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire at the rear of the home with heavy smoke damage to the remainder home. No other structures were damaged.”
About $150,000 damage was caused as a result of the blaze, while $100,000 worth of property was saved.
