The Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch has laid 80 fraud related charges in a case involving Lambton Mall gift cards.
22 gift cards with a value of over $16,000 were purchased on-line with stolen and compromised credit cards from Qatar, Spain, U.S.A, and Canada.
The accused people were all caught on video surveillance picking up the pre-paid gift cards at Lambton Mall.
The offences occurred during November of 2015 and Lambton Mall was forced to shut down all on-line gift card purchases at that time. The on-line gift card purchase service remains suspended.
Four people have been arrested and police are seeking warrants for three remaining suspects.
Charged are:
– A 27-year-old woman from Sarnia.
– A 21-year-old man from Strathroy.
– A 26-year-old woman from Parkhill.
– And a 37-year-old woman from Sombra.
All four accused have been released and will appear in court on February 23, 2016.
