Morning Coffee – By Aaron Hall, is sponsored by Country Style in Wallaceburg:
After a trip to the Chatham-Kent Public Library Wallaceburg branch back in the spring, I decided to give the ‘business’ books a rest and tackle a novel just for the sake of reading.
After previously reading Dan Brown’s Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code years ago, I opted for the next book in the Robert Langdon series, The Lost Symbol. After plowing through it, it was back to the library to grab the last book in the series, Inferno.
During this time, my daughter Ava had been visiting with her Papa, and she mentioned that I had started reading and was really enjoying it. When she got home that night, she had a grocery bag full of books.
“David Baldacci,” Ava’s Papa said. “I think you’ll like him.”
Well, 20 novels later… I think that was a safe bet.
Baldacci books are fictional mysteries that focus around various crimes, investigations and government conspiracies related mostly to the United States government and justice system.
His character development and dialogue is pristine. The different people in his books carry unique traits, quirks and personalities that leave you often pulling for them in the end, and wanting to read more adventures with them included.
He also has the ability to paint picturesque descriptions of the settings in his books, with extremely fine detail.
From chapter to chapter, the multiple story-lines jump around and often leave you hanging for a couple of chapters while other story-lines develop.
Baldacci categorizes many of his books into various series’: Will Robie, John Puller, The Camel Club, Amos Decker, A. Shaw and the series I’m currently tackling, King and Maxwell.
He also has many other single novels, some for young readers, and recently just celebrated the 20th anniversary of the publishing of his first ever book, Absolute Power.
If you’re into these type of thriller-type novels, I definitely recommended checking out David Baldacci.
