Sentence handed out for drunk driving crash

On August 11, 2013 around 2:00 a.m. emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Michener Road near Valley Road in Chatham.

A white 2013 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 litre GT was travelling southbound on Michener Road when it left the roadway to the right (west), mounted the sidewalk, sheared off a street light, sheared off a green hydro box, flipped, and came to rest in the northbound lane of Michener Road.

The vehicle contained six occupants despite the car having only four seats. All the occupants were Chatham residents and transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance by ambulance.

At the time of the collision Brandon Bertotti, 21 years of Chatham was charged with Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm x3, Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm x3, Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm x3, Owner Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance, Drive Motor Vehicle – No Validation on Plate.

Last week, Brandon Bertotti, 22 years, of Sandys Street in Chatham was sentenced to 9 months in jail and given an 18 month driving prohibition.
