Annual Dresden Rotary Concert Series Wraps Up Another Great Season

Every Thursday throughout the summer the Dresden Rotary Club has provided the public an evening out to enjoy local live music and free BBQ’s. The event began at 6 p.m. with the BBQ followed by live music from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday had beautiful weather and a great turnout as many people from Dresden and the surrounding areas including Wallaceburg brought their lawn chairs to sit back, relax and enjoy the live music. The series started at the beginning of the summer and just finished this past Thursday to wrap up the season at the Dresden Park.

TD Canada Trust Branch Manager and past President of the Dresden Rotary Club, Rose Northcott

said this summers’ turnout has been continuing to grow.

“It’s a great turnout today! It’s continuing to grow which is what we want. We had 329 people at end of July which was great. That’s why we really want to keep getting the word out to the community and online on our Facebook to reach more people”.

Northcott also said they are well on their way to being prepared for next year. ” We have scheduled through our committee the bands that will be showcased every week. We’re set for next year already. I’ve been involved as a past president for the last six years and what we can give to the community what we can give to young students is phenomenal”.

“Were looking for new members at all times. We love new members. We’re the only club that has adopted a flex so the first 2 meetings a month is a club assembly at the church here in Dresden third meeting is only for Directors and the forth meeting we call a club assembly that can be anywhere. Our club assembly that is this Monday we’ll be going to an asparagus farm. Different people take turns during the month to find a good place for us to go and get to know each other”.

The Dresden Rotary Club is all voluntary. Appreciation goes out to this years’ major sponsors including: Gary and Deena’s Foodland, the Dresden Vet Clinic and TD Canada Trust.

“I would like to see this develop into something bigger and promote Rotary so it becomes more well known in the community”.
