A man from Wallaceburg has been identified as the victim after a fatal plane crash in Sarnia on the weekend.

Sarnia Police officials say on Saturday, at approximately 11:45 a.m., an Ultra-Light airplane was being flown north of London Line near Brigden Road, when a wing came off the aircraft and it spiraled into a corn field.

Keith Murray, 65 years from Sarnia, perished in the crash.

Murray was the sole occupant of the aircraft.

According to his Facebook profile, Murray listed Wallaceburg as his hometown.

Sarnia Police officials say investigators from Transport Canada will be trying to determine why the wing came off the aircraft.

The Sarnia Police say they have concluded their investigative involvement in the crash, while investigators from the Transport Canada Safety Board have taken several items from the wreckage for further examination in Toronto.

“The Sarnia Police would like to thank all the witnesses who called into the police station with their information; your assistance is greatly appreciated,” Sarnia Police officials stated.
