Seth Griffith hoping to crack Maple Leafs lineup
Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith is working hard in attempt to crack the lineup with his new team, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
“It’s been a long week, it has been pretty crazy adjusting to the blue instead of the black and gold, but I like it a lot,” Griffith told Paul Hendrick of Leafs TV following Tuesday’s practice (see the full video above, or click here to view it.)
Griffith has yet to see any game action for Toronto, since being acquired last week in a waiver-wire deal from the Boston Bruins.
The 23-year-old winger did see time with the Leafs powerplay unit on Tuesday in practice.
Head coach Mike Babcock told reporters they are not rushing things with their new player.
“We’re trying to give him an opportunity when the opportunity warrants itself,” Babcock said.
“We’re in no rush. He’s another guy who has to get up to speed. Boston does a lot of the same things we do, so that won’t be an issue for him. The guys thought he is a player who would be able to help us, so eventually we’ll have to find a way to get him in.”
In his career, Griffith has played in 34 NHL games, all with Boston, racking up six goals and five assists for 11 points.
The Leafs will be back in action on Wednesday, when they face the Jets in Winnipeg.
