Annual ‘Teddy Bear Toss’ at the Lakers game

The Wallaceburg Lakers will be holding their annual ‘Teddy Bear Toss’ at their game tonight (December 7) at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena.

People are being encouraged to bring teddy bears to the game, when the Lakers host the Mooretown Flags.

Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.

The proceeds will be donated to the Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul.

After the Lakers score their first goal, people will be encouraged to toss the teddy bears onto the ice.

The Wallaceburg Novice Rep team will be helping out to collect the bears.

For every teddy bear people bring in, they will be eligible for a prize.

Lakers lose to Essex

The Essex 73s out shot the Lakers on Tuesday night 60-13, in a 4-0 Lakers loss.

Wallaceburg goalie George Hill made 56 saves in the loss.

The Lakers have now lost 14 straight games, and sit in last place in the Hobbs Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League with a 1-22-1 record.

Seth sits

For the second straight game, Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith was a healthy scratch for the Florida Panthers.

Florida ended up losing their game Tuesday night game 4-3 in OT to the Philadelphia Flyers.

In 11 games so far this season, eight with Florida, Griffith has recorded one assist.

The Panthers will be hosting the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday in their next match-up.

Boys hoops, girls volleyball action

It was a busy night in the LKSSAA high school sports scene.

Junior Boys Basketball

Carter Law scored 7 points for the Lambton-Kent Cardinals, but it was Tilbury beating L-K 36-25.

Jacob Moore chipped in with 6 points for the Dresden squad.

Senior boys basketball

Anxo Iglesias and Matt Jolin each scored 8 points to lead the Wallaceburg Tartans in a 44-20 win over NLSS.

Kaelin Hunt scored 14 points for the Cardinals, who topped Tilbury 57-28.

Mark Mortier scored 10 points for L-K, while Billy Fehr chipped in with 8 points.
