Barricaded man arrested in St. Clair Township

opp-2A man is in custody after barricading himself in a St. Clair Township residence.

OPP officials say on Monday December 5, shortly after 8:00 p.m., the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for assistance in relation to a domestic dispute.

The Lambton County OPP initiated an investigation and acting upon information received during the course of the investigation was directed to a residence in the 2800 block of McCallum Road, St. Clair Township.

Responding members of the Lambton OPP attempted to communicate with a male party inside the residence who refused to cooperate with police.

Based on information obtained during the investigation, the Ontario Provincial Police Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) along with the Ontario Provincial Police Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Ontario Provincial Police Canine Unit were requested and dispatched to attend and assist the Lambton OPP.

McCallum Line between Mandaumin Road and Brigden Road was closed for approximately seven hours.

The male suspect was eventually apprehended at just before 4:30 a.m. on December 6.

No injuries were sustained to the suspect or any involved officers during the incident.

This investigation is currently on-going with the assistance of the Lambton OPP Crime Unit.

The name of the accused is being withheld at this time pending the outcome of this investigation.
