There is still time to ‘wow’ that creative person on your Christmas list with a Chalk Paint Workshop at Home & Cottage Interiors.
The ‘Wine Sign’ workshop kicks off on January 12 with participants choosing between four different sign designs all themed around wine.
“This workshop is a little more advanced than the Rustic Christmas Sign Workshop we just completed,” said Annie Sloan Stockist, Diane Galvin. “At this one, participants will learn how to achieve a couple of the different Annie Sloan paint techniques and be able to apply them to their creation.”
These workshops are $60 and are available for private parties on Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and for individuals on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
People need to guarantee six to eight participants to book a private party, and they fill up very fast.
“We plan to run the Wine Sign Workshops until the end of February, but all 18 of the Christmas ones filled up within eight days last October, so I advise people to act fast,” Galvin said with a laugh.
The ‘Paint Your First Piece’ Workshop is perfect for the decorating enthusiast who has been dying to try out this popular trend.
“We offer this workshop on the last Wednesday afternoon and last Saturday morning of the month,” Galvin said.
“You learn hands on how to accomplish two of the most popular painting techniques, then you get to paint a small piece of furniture that your bring from home.” The biggest advantage to this workshop is that students get to complete their first project with the supervision and support of a fully trained Annie Sloan Stockist.
“They also have access to our brushes, all 35 of the Annie Sloan fabulous colours and all four waxes, including the relatively new white and black wax,” Galvin said.
The fee for this workshop is $100.
If you are giving a workshop as a Christmas Gift you can purchase a Gift Certificate and allow the recipient to book their time slot later or you can book them in and if it doesn’t work, they can call and switch dates later.

Home & Cottage Interiors also sells Chalk PaintTM Mini Project Packs which include two paint colours and a clear and a dark wax as well as an Annie Sloan Paint Brush. People can pick the two colours for their pack and as long as the bottles are not opened the recipient may exchange them for different colours after Christmas.
“This is a great way to get started and it’s enough supplies to complete a few small projects,” Galvin said.
