Back to school

March Break has wrapped up and the kids go back to school today. Just a reminder to all motorists that there will be an increase in traffic and pedestrians, especially young children out on our streets today. Please reduce your speed in the area of cross walks and school zones, remember slower is safer. With school buses back on the road, all drivers must stop when approaching a stopped school bus with its upper red lights and stop arm flashing, regardless of the speed limit or number of lanes. Motorists failing to comply may be issued a $490 fine and six demerit points. Back to school safety is a community effort.

CKHA Open House this week in Wallaceburg

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is holding a town hall/open house coming up in Wallaceburg. The event is open to the public and will be held on Thursday, March 23 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Canadian Belgian Dutch Club. This will be an opportunity for the community to personally meet the provincially-appointed supervisor, the new CEO and newly hired and appointed vice presidents and medical leadership team. Check out our story here.

More hospital coverage

The Sydenham Current will be covering multiple hospital-related events this week, not just the open house on Thursday.

The Chatham-Kent, Wallaceburg-Walpole Island First Nation and the Ontario Health Coalition will be releasing details from a survey they launched late last year on Monday morning.

The media will be sitting down with the CKHA leadership for another update on Wednesday.

And finally, the SOS committee will be meeting next week to discuss the latest developments with the hospital. The SOS group will be meeting on Thursday, March 30 at 6 p.m. at the UAW Hall.

My daughter Daylia (middle) enjoyed an awesome painting class on Saturday at the Wallaceburg Wellness Centre with instructor Gretchen Gamble. Dayl had a great time and all the kids went home with a beautiful painting. Gretchen said she plans on holding more classes at the Centre in the future. Watch for details on the Wallaceburg Wellness Centre Facebook page.
