Wallaceburg Red Devils move into first place

Red Devils forward Tyler Brown picked up a ‘Baker’s Dozen’ worth of points on Tuesday, as Wallaceburg pounded the Windsor Clippers 14-6 at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena.

With the win, the Red Devils (10-4-1) move into sole possession of first place in the Far West Division of the Ontario Junior ‘B’ Lacrosse League.

Head coach Justin Durston was thrilled after the lopsided victory, which included the debut of three new players acquired in a trade with Six Nations this week, Colin Montour, Sidney Powless and Bailey Skye.

Brown lit up the score sheet on Tuesday night collecting 13 points in total, scoring 6 goals and adding 7 assists.

The 18-year-old now has 50 points on the year, with 27 goals and 23 assists in 11 games with the Red Devils.

Evan Mathany continued his hot streak for Wallaceburg as well, adding 7 points, 1 goal and 6 assists. Mathany has 51 points on the year, 16 goals and 35 assists.

Powless and Cory Lucier each had 2 goals and 2 assists, Carter Hastings had 2 goals and 1 assist and Ryan Noel had 1 goal and 1 assist. Kyle Dawson picked up 3 assists.

Noble Jacobs was solid between the pipes for Wallaceburg, making 39 saves.

Windsor out-shot Wallaceburg 45-37.

A total of 400 people packed into Wallaceburg Memorial Arena for the game.

Wallaceburg will be back at home on Saturday afternoon, when they host the Welland Ganerals.

The ball drops at 4 p.m.
