Numerous gasoline thefts in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers is looking for information from the public after a number of gasoline thefts in Wallaceburg.

“For several weeks there has been numerous thefts of gas from vehicles in the community of Wallaceburg,” Crime Stoppers officials said in a media release.

“The suspect in these incidents drills holes in the tank and drains the tank into a jerry can causing several thousands of dollars in damages to the vehicles.”

Crime Stoppers officials allege on July 12 a suspect was observed stealing from the tank of a vehicle parked at the Sydenham District Hospital.

“The police were able to obtain an image of the suspect from video surveillance in the area,” Crime Stoppers officials said.

“The suspect is described as being 6 feet tall, 180 lbs., wearing a black shirt, blue shorts. If you know who this person is call 1-800-222-8477 with your anonymous information and you could earn a cash reward.”
