Thanksgiving in action

From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

According to William Arthur Ward, “Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.”

It is Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and you know what that means, don’t you?

It’s time for the Brigden Fair, a nice meal with your family, and a golden opportunity to put your Thanksgiving into action.

Let’s focus on that third one for a minute.

Do you appreciate your parents?

Is there a teacher you have, or had, that has made a special impact on your life?

Are you grateful for your job?

I want to encourage you to do something during this upcoming week that follows your gut-stuffing turkey dinner.

The Bible records that Jesus once healed ten men of their leprosy, but only one man went back and thanked Jesus for doing so.

Be that one man this week and actually SHOW your gratitude.

Take a few minutes to compose a hand-written note and mail it to that person you want to thank.

Don’t cheat and send an email or a Facebook message.

There’s something meaningful and special about getting an actual card or note in the mail that amplifies the effect of your gratitude.

Be genuine but specific and then seal that card with a prayer, asking the Lord to bless the one receiving it.

You’re going to make someone’s day this week!
