Special weather statement issued

A special weather statement has been issued in Chatham-Kent, as a wintry mix is possible this morning, January 7, 2019.

Environment Canada officials say an area of light snow or ice pellets will affect portions of Southwestern Ontario early this morning.

Snowfall accumulations are expected to be fairly light, with perhaps a couple of centimetres possible, forecasters say.

“There is also a threat of some brief freezing rain,” Environment Canada officials stated.

“Any freezing rain is expected to be fairly light, but locally slippery conditions are possible this morning, particularly on untreated surfaces.”

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
