‘Dramatic change in weather’ expected

A freezing rain warning has ended across Chatham-Kent, but a special weather statement remains in place.

“A Colorado low will track northeast across Lake Huron and Georgian Bay today, bringing a dramatic change in weather with it,” Environment Canada officials say.

“The thaw has begun with rain and much milder temperatures expected today. Most regions will receive 15 to 25 mm of rain by this evening.”

Forecasters say strong southwesterly winds gusting to near 70 km/h are expected later today.

“Colder air will return tonight, bringing the short-lived January thaw to an end,” Environment Canada officials say.
