Free food

Labour Day has come and gone, school’s back in… and the ‘Community Meals’ are back!

Sooo… what exactly is a ‘Community Meal’?

Well, most churches in town offer a free hot meal at least once a month.

Aarkel offers one as well, at Knox Church (this month it’s Saturday September 28).

Knox, however, hosts a ‘Soup Cellar’, a free hot lunch every Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and it’s a sit down lunch.

Knox also hosts their ‘Soup Pantry’ every Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., but that one is a food give-away, featuring: frozen pizza, frozen KFC, tons of fresh veggies, donuts, boxed and canned goods, and a ton of baked goods.

Volunteers collect the food, and some people donate as well.

Volunteers prepare the food.

Volunteers serve the food.

Volunteers do the clean up.

Key word, folks… VOLUNTEERS!

Remember that.

Note: there is never a charge, it’s free.

Donations are gratefully accepted, of course.

You don’t have to belong to one of the churches, or to any church for that matter.

The ‘Community Meals’ are open to anyone, and we get everything from small children to seniors.

Kudos to Sydenham Current, by the way, for publishing the schedule.

Copies are available at the meals, too.

If you know someone who could benefit from these programs, let them know!

There are 13 dates and locations just in September alone.

Spread the word!
