Man charged with drug possession

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 9:30 a.m. yesterday morning, police responded to the report of a suspicious man sitting in a vehicle on Peter Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the vehicle was stolen from Wheatley last month.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession methamphetamine.

The 50-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime and drug possession. He was transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Woman charged with being in possession of stolen truck

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, shortly after 10 a.m. police responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle at a farm on Bloomfield Road.

The homeowner approached the woman as she exited the truck.

She quickly fled on foot.

Officers found the woman hiding under an evergreen tree on Sixteenth Line.

Through investigation, police learned the woman was driving a stolen truck, which also had stolen license plates attached to it.

The 29-year-old woman of no fixed address was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with two counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime.

She was also charged with robbery in connection with an incident that occurred last month at a local motel.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with break and enter

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, around 9 p.m. an observant citizen contacted police to report suspicious activity around a residence on Queen Street in Wallaceburg.

Upon arrival, police learned that the homeowners were away.

Officers entered the residence and found a man inside.

The 40-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with break and enter.

Through investigation, he was also charged with arson in connection with a suspicious garage fire on Blake Street in September.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Report of suspicious vehicle leads to arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 1 a.m. this morning, officers responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Murray Street in Chatham.

Officers responded to the area and located the vehicle.

Through investigation, police learned that a man in the vehicle was wanted on several outstanding warrants.

The 37-year-old Chatham man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Disturbance leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 2 a.m. this morning, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Tilbury.

Through investigation, police learned that the man attended his ex-girlfriend’s home and forced his way in, causing damage to a door.

Once inside, the man assaulted and threatened another man in the home, while in possession of a knife.

The 25-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with break and enter, assault with a weapon and two counts of uttering threats.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Break and enter in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Monday morning, police responded to a break and enter into a home for sale on Queen Street where a white Frigidaire dryer was stolen.

By canvassing the neighbourhood, police learned that around 4 a.m. a white man, approximately 40 years with a skinny build was observed in the backyard of the residence with a red wagon.
