Chatham-Kent’s receives $1,652,698 contribution from OLG

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has acknowledged the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s (OLG) annual contribution to the Municipality from the operation of Gateway’s Cascades Casino Chatham.

This year’s official 2024 installment is $1,652,698 and since the opening in April 2001, the total received is $17,799,465.

Municipal officials say each year, these funds help offset the costs of all municipally delivered services, as well as fund municipal grants, support for community groups, events, public art, and community initiatives.

“OLG is proud to be a vital part of the Municipality of Chatham-Kent,” said Kathleen Devine, OLG’s Senior Municipal Relations Manager, in a press release.

“Each and every year, 100 per cent of OLG profits are reinvested in Ontario to support provincial priorities. From critical infrastructure to important local programs, to community festivals, OLG’s profits are hard at work in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and all across our province to build stronger communities. We also appreciate the contribution of gaming site employees at Cascades Casinos Chatham who are making these communities that much better. When you play at an Ontario casino, you play for Ontario.”

Mayor Darrin Canniff said he is “continuously blown away” by the funds Chatham-Kent receives through the partnership with OLG.

“These funds represent a significant investment in our community and help fund many of the great things we’re seeing come to fruition throughout CK,” Mayor Canniff said, in a press release.

“I want to thank OLG for the important role they play in supporting our community. Their contributions continue to have a significant impact on the quality of service we deliver to residents and help promote the growth we continue to see throughout Chatham-Kent.”

The announcement was made during a special ceremony held at the Civic Centre with citizen volunteer representatives from the Together CK Municipal Grant Program.
