Wind chill warning

frozen branchesEnvironment Canada is calling for wind chills of minus 30 to minus 35, but it will be improving this morning.

Yet another bitterly cold Arctic air mass is entrenched over Southern Ontario.

A combination of early morning temperatures in the minus 20S early this morning and light to moderate northwesterly winds will result in wind chills near minus 30.

Frostbite (damage, sometimes permanent, to skin and body tissue due to freezing) and hypothermia (a life threatening drop in body temperature) will occur if adequate precautions are not taken when outdoors.

These can occur within minutes.

Wind chills will improve this morning as the air temperature rises under the strengthening early March sun.
