Wallaceburg resident Carmen McGregor has has filed her papers and is running for council in Ward 5 – Wallaceburg.
McGregor, currently a trustee with the Lambton-Kent District School Board and the president of the Wallaceburg and District Chamber of Commerce, will be taking her first crack at municipal politics.
Incumbent Councillor Jeff Wesley is the only other resident to file so far in Ward 5.
Sheldon Parsons, the other incumbent in Wallaceburg, has stated he intends to run once again but he has yet to file his papers.
McGregor’s husband Tom is a former Wallaceburg Councillor and he ran for mayor back in 2010, coming in second place in the voting to Randy Hope. Tom McGregor has already filed his papers to run for school board trustee, the same position Carmen McGregor currently holds.
Election day is Oct. 27.
