ATV driver ends up in ditch

At approximately 1:00 pm Saturday afternoon, a lone 35 year old Chatham-Kent resident was operating an ATV (4-Wheeler) east bound Heritage Line approaching 40 Hwy.

The driver stopped for the stop sign at 40 Hwy, then travelled across 40 Hwy and continued east bound Heritage Line when the front-end of the ATV was observed lifting up from the roadway.

The driver lost control and ended up in east side ditch off of Heritage Line.

The driver landed on the ice and ATV followed behind and landed on his back.

The driver was conscious and alert.

Ambulance transported the driver to Sydenham District Hospital for assessment.

The driver sustained 2 broken ribs and some internal bleeding.

The driver was transported to Hotel Dieu Hospital in Windsor via Ambulance for surgery and remains in ICU.
