Chatham’s Derek Whitson had two assists, as the Team Canada sledge hockey team pounded Sweden 10-1 in their Paralympic opener.

The team will be back in action against Norway today.

Canada’s team have reached the podium three times since the sport debuted in 1994, bronze in 1994, silver in 1998 and gold in 2006.

If they win gold this year, it would be the first time Canada has won triple gold at the Olympics/Paralympics.
