Winter blast hitting the area

The winter storm that Environment Canada was calling for, is starting to hit the area.

Heavy snow and blowing snow is expected for today, with “blizzard-like” conditions, Environment Canada officials stated.

“Motorists should prepare for hazardous driving conditions today into tonight,” Environment Canada said.

About 15 cm of snow is expected to fall by this evening.

The winter storm warning remains in effect.

Locally, Highway 40 between Wallaceburg and Chatham is starting to be come partially snow covered.

Slippery conditions and blowing snow is being reported along Base Line Road between Dresden and Wallaceburg, and on the 401.
