The 17th Annual Business & Community Excellence Awards in Wallaceburg is coming up on April 24, and people have the chance to get some discounted tickets.

The Wallaceburg and District Chamber of Commerce has issued an early bird special for the event, with the cost being $50 a ticket prior to April 15, with the price going up to $60 afterwards.

Barbara McCaughrin, the chair of the committee, said they decided to move the event out to the Baldoon Golf Club.

“Melissa (Gaylard) there has been awesome, she’s really helping out a lot,” McCaughrin said.

McCaughrin said Andrew Jeffs from Job Match, Gloria Tulp, who is retired and Kelly Hetherington from Sun Life, along with herself have been organizing the event.

She added they are going with appetizers from a selection of vendors, as opposed to a sit done meal.

The vendors include:

  • Chef Angie Moore – Gatsby’s Grill House
  • Charlie Kridiotis – Crabby Joe’s
  • James Bolos – James Street Eatery
  • Baldoon
  • Your Hometown Deli
  • Desserts from C-K Spices and Teas and Vivian Jardine

McCaughrin the event is a great opportunity to showcase the business community in the area.

“It’s really about celebrating our local businesses in Wallaceburg and district,” she said. “We’ve had quite a few nominations this year, which is amazing. This shows that there are a lot of businesses and individuals that people think are really deserving to be recognized. It’s not just about the award recipients, it’s about the community. We’re trying to get more communities involved, I know Dresden has become more involved with Business Excellence, last year was the first time they issued a Dresden BIA Award.”

McCaughrin wine tasting from Early Acres Estate Winery will be available, background music on saxophone will be playing, Cogeco will also be broadcasting the event and a silent auction will available as well.
