More than 20% of St. Clair Township voters have cast ballots online

More than 20 per cent of eligible voters in St. Clair Township have cast their ballots online for the municipal and school board elections, the township says.

“We are pleased with the turnout so far and hope to see strong participation throughout the weekend as Election Day approaches,” said Clerk Jeff Baranek. “Municipal government decisions affect our daily lives in countless ways, from roads and emergency services to parks, recreation, and community programs. By casting a ballot, residents help shape the future of St. Clair Township.”

Online voting opened at 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, and remains available until 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26. Eligible voters can cast a ballot from a computer, tablet or smartphone at stclair.simplyvoting.com. They will need the nine-digit PIN and their date of birth from the Voter Information Letter they received in the mail.

Residents who did not receive a letter, have lost their PIN or have questions can contact the township’s Voter Help Desk, which is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The help desk can be reached at 519-867-2021 or 2026election@stclairtownship.ca, or in person at the Civic Centre at 1155 Emily St. in Mooretown.

People who need help voting electronically, or who do not have a personal device, can bring their letter to one of the remaining voter assistance centres. Staff will be on hand to provide support.

On Friday, Oct. 23, a centre will be open from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sombra Museum, 3470 St. Clair Pkwy. in Sombra. On Saturday, Oct. 24, centres will be open from 10 a.m. to noon at Thompson Gardens, 198 Beckwith St. in Corunna, and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Civic Centre in Mooretown.
