Bike swipe leads to charges

Last night, at approximately 6:45 p.m. a 41-year-old man attended a business on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg, leaving his bicycle outside leaning against a window of the building.

While inside, the man observed a male suspect ride away on his bike valued at $1,300.

The man chased the male suspect however lost sight of him.

The man provided police physical descriptors of the male suspect and bicycle. Shortly after 7:00 p.m. police located the male suspect still riding the stolen bike near Tulip Street.

A 34-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date.

Police seized the bicycle and it was returned to the owner.
