The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a theft investigation.

Over the past few months, Canada Post received complaints of mail not being delivered. Through investigation, Canada Post determined that a sub-contracted employee was responsible for the theft of mail containing money.

Earlier this week, Canada Post contacted police for assistance. An officer located the employee driving his personal vehicle home after work and a traffic stop was initiated. Upon being arrested, the man was searched and found to be in possession of two pieces of stolen mail.

A 46-year-old man of Grand Avenue East in Chatham has been charged with two counts of theft of mail and two counts of possessing stolen mail.

He was released with conditions pending a future court date.
