June is Ontario Seniors’ Month and Chatham-Kent Mayor Randy Hope and Municipal Council are taking the opportunity to acknowledge the achievements of local seniors. Mayor Hope said, “Chatham-Kent is fortunate to have seniors volunteering their time in many sectors throughout the municipality. We want to publicly recognize the great contributions that these residents give to our community. We’re looking to residents to nominate people who deserve recognition from the entire community.”
The stated purpose of the Chatham-Kent Senior Achievement Award is to “recognize and honour outstanding senior volunteers who have achieved significant goals and have made outstanding contributions to the citizens of Chatham-Kent, without any purpose of personal gain.”
Nominations can be made by any person or organization wishing to recognize seniors in their area, and the nominations will be reviewed by an impartial selection committee. All nominations receive a certificate of achievement, and one nominee will be named the Chatham-Kent Senior of the Year! The presentations will be made at the Chatham-Kent Seniors’ Fair on Friday, June 13 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Blenheim Recreation Centre (Arena).

To qualify, a nominee must:
– Be a resident of the Municipality of Chatham-Kent
– Be 60 years of age or older
