Emergency crews encouraging people to donate blood

Chatham-Kent Police, Fire, EMS, OPP members as well as the residents of Chatham-Kent are being called to action to donate blood during the month of April.

The call is in support of Uniforms Unite to Save Lives — a month-long blood donor campaign spearheaded by police officers Doug and Renee Cowell.

This April marks the 13th anniversary of the tragic loss of their baby girl, Bailey. During her battle with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) and subsequent heart transplant, Bailey received over 140 blood products.

As part of their annual Green Ribbon Campaign to support organ donation awareness, Doug and Renee invite fellow emergency services personnel and residents of Chatham-Kent to ‘Answer the Call’.

This year, help us help others by giving back.

Register your consent to be an organ donor at www.beadonor.ca/ckha and donate blood.
