WAMBO poster contest open to everyone

The WAMBO committee is opening up the WAMBO poster art contest to everyone.

Anyone, any age, from anywhere is welcome to submit their art.

Gale Steadman, the marketing chair for WAMBO said the committee has taken different approaches over the years with the contest.

“In the year 2000 the art contest was brought to Wallaceburg District Secondary School,” she said. “For the WAMBO 20th and 25th annual events special posters were done by the WAMBO committee. Two years ago the contest included all Chatham-Kent high schools and this year we’ve broadened our reach to everyone. I will still be producing the base art but what is needed is the main image.”

First prize is $250, with second place getting $100.

The image must be exactly 10 inches wide by 8 inches high.

Any art work must be able to be converted digitally, in order to be printed. Digital files must be 300 dpi in 100% image view in either .tff, .jpg,, .png or .pdf formats.

The art work must include art work representing the main displays of WAMBO: antique automobiles, boats, fire trucks and may also include (optional) depictions of the antique motor cycles, toys, soap box races, tractors, military vehicles or other WAMBO attractions.

Words or numbers, including the word WAMBO or the dates, do not need to appear on the art work.

Art work can be dropped off at the radio station downtown or sent to marketing@wambo.ca – the deadline is Friday, May 9.

WAMBO is August 8,9 and 10 this summer.
