Burns Restaurant in Dresden has a brand new look and is more accessible, thanks to a major re-vamp last year.
Rob Burnett, owner of the restaurant, said the look of the restaurant was dated.
“It was time for a change,” he said. “We really wanted the accessibility. That’s where it started was with the ramp. It just kept adding on… lets do the windows, lets do the doors. It kind of blew up but we’re quite happy with the results. I think the customers are happy with it too, as soon as we did that business picked up even more than it was before.”
Burnett said a new wheel chair ramp added, the whole face of the building was re-done with new siding, they also got all new lighting, paint, tables and chairs.
“The ramp was the big add-on,” he said. “It’s nice to see when people come in with wheelchairs or the walkers, it’s a lot easier for them. We’ve done some work to our private room in the back as well to make it accessible. We expanded the bathrooms to make them wider.”
Burnett said all the construction work was kept local.
“When we went shopping for contractors… we just looked at our building, who comes in for lunch, who supports us,” Burnett said. “The electrician, he’s in everyday. The awning was Dennis from town with the Sign Shop. Anything we can do to support local.”
