Blenheim man charged after choking victim during dispute, police say

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 55-year-old Blenheim man is facing multiple charges after an alleged assault at a Catherine Street residence in Blenheim, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers responded to the home at approximately 6:46 a.m. Tuesday following a complaint of an assault.

Police say their investigation determined two people who knew each other were involved in a dispute that escalated when the accused choked the victim. The accused then fled the residence shortly after police were contacted, according to police.

A short time later, police located the man and arrested him without incident.

He has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault, mischief under $5,000 and theft under $5,000.

The accused was taken to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing.
