Burns Restaurant maintains a ‘local’ touch

Move over Cheers… Burns Restaurant in Dresden is where everybody knows your name.

Rob Burnett, owner of the business along with his wife Erin, said his staff help them keep the small-town atmosphere at their restaurant.

“You get to know everybody and the regulars,” he said. “It’s that small-town atmosphere, it’s not like Toronto where you’ll never see that person again. Sometime we’ll see people two or three times a day. Everyone here likes to chat it up. Even with take-out… we take name and number so we can know those people’s order, know their voices. We can say I knew it was you… and people will get a chuckle out of that. It’s that little touch which I think is an added value.”

Burnett said they have about 20 staff on board right now, combined with the restaurant and catering.

“We’ve got a good crew,” he said. “I think that’s part of the reason why we’re busy. It’s the staff behind you, it’s not just me and Erin, we can’t run everything. There is a lot more behind us that help do this whole show, with the catering and in-house. They are one of the key factors that helps us be us and be successful, make our numbers grow each year and make us busier and busier.”
