Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) with campuses in Chatham and Wallaceburg proudly celebrates National Volunteer Week.
During the week, CKHA volunteers enjoyed an appreciation luncheon each day in the Volunteer Department. It was a time for networking with their peers and many door prizes donated by hospital staff & physicians. Elston’s Pharmacy, Boutique Grand Gift Shop and Tim Hortons made generous donations to In-Service Volunteers of the hospital.
On April 9, 2014, six adult and one young adult CKHA in-service volunteers were awarded Ontario Service Awards at a ceremony held at the Capitol Theatre. These awards (certificates and pins) are bestowed by the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship & Immigration annually to recognize years of service. CKHA recipients are: Joan Arner – 10 years, Judy Brearley – 10 years, Ruth McDougall – 10 years, Marie Prentice – 10 years, Ruth Tuck – 20 years and Mary Jane McCully – 20 years. Edward Walsh was the CKHA young adult award winner with 2 years of service.
CKHA`s Volunteer Resource Specialist, Chene Faulkner, said, “CKHA benefits from the contributions of over 500 volunteers. From the boardroom to the bedside, these talented and kind individuals exemplify the values of hospital trust, teamwork, respect, accountability, compassion and knowledge.”
“CKHA In-Service volunteers provided over 24,000 hours of service in the past fiscal year,” she added. Our volunteers are “Exceptional and Extraordinary People”.
Volunteer opportunities at CKHA currently exist in the Medicine, Ambulatory Care, and the Diagnostic Imaging Departments, the Information Desk at both sites and the Boutique Grand & Serendipity Gift Shops (Chatham and Wallaceburg campuses) respectively.
