The community is mourning after a Walpole Island councillor died suddenly over the weekend.
Roderick “Rod” Henderson Shipman passed away on Sunday, April 20.
He was 42.
Shipman will be remembered by his wife Dawn and two children Dayle and Daisy, along with many other family members.
Shipman was a sitting councilor on Walpole Island First Nation Band Council and had worked for Sydenham Trucking, John C. Cement, Luigi Cement and Serkka Farms.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Shipman’s home at 392 Altiman Road on Walpole Island today.
The Funeral will be celebrated at the Walpole Island Sports Complex on Thursday, April 24 at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow at Highbanks Cemetery.
