Splash Pools in Wallaceburg is issuing out a challenge to the community.

Maryanne DeVylder, who has owned the business since 1991 with her husband Maurice, said she is “daring people to compare” the prices for pool chemicals and pool supplies at the “big-box stores.”

Maryanne said she sees people purchase the bulk liquid chlorine “on sale” at the big box stores, while her products at Splash is a better value.

“It’s the exact same product, except mine gets refreshed every week,” she said. “The big box stores buy it and get it shipped out to their big warehouses. The longer it sits, the weaker it gets. People go in there and buy this stuff for $5.49 for a 5 litre jug. You can come here and pay $6.95 for a fresh product, and 10 litres. People just have to do the math.”

Maryanne said other pool products are marked up at the big box stores as well.

“Don’t be afraid to compare prices,” she said. “Splash Pools is very competitive with the big box stores if not less. You also get the professional backup, you have the technical backup, you have the chemistry backup, you have all that sitting here waiting. Please, come in and pick my brain.”

Maryanne said all her stock and products are in.

“We’re completely stocked and ready to go for the season,” she said. “I’ve got all my chemicals in, all my products in, liquid chlorine is in.”
