Tornado warnings in Michigan; thunderstorm watch in C-K

With tornado warnings popping up in northern Michigan, Environment Canada has only issued thunderstorm watches so far in Chatham-Kent.

“Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and torrential rain,” Environment Canada officials stated. “Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Intense lightning is likely with any storm that develops. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. If you hear thunder, then lightning is close enough to be dangerous.”
