Baldoon Golf Club in Wallaceburg has a fun opportunity available for boys and girls ages 11-18 this summer.
Registrations are now being accepted for the Junior Golf League.
Ryan Gurd, the director of golf at Baldoon, says its a chance for kids to play some golf and have fun.
“The league part is just for the kids to go out and play nine holes,” he said. “They will go out as foursomes, keep score, learn the game or teach others the game, help each other along the way and have some fun out there.”
Gurd said he will be holding a 30-minute clinic beforehand to help the kids.
“I’m offering them a service of helping them with their game beforehand if they want to improve on it,” Gurd said. “If the kids want to practice their long-game, or their chipping and putting, I can help them with that.”
Gurd said they are trying to rejuvenate the league and get new faces out.
“We’re trying to promote the juniors to get back into golf,” he said. “ I remember my dad back in the day, back in 1999, we started it and it grew to 100 people. We’re trying to get that back to where it used to be.”
Gurd said there the league will run Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The first league night is June 5th and it will run every Thursday until August 28, which will be the season-end banquet night.
Registration is $45, and if the junior is not a member, $10 a week to play nine holes.

“We encourage any junior to come out and play, space is not limited,” Gurd added.
